Brasil is the largest country in Latin America. To the north it borders the French overseas department of French Guiana, Suriname, Guyana and Venezuela; to the northwest with Colombia; to the west with Peru and Bolivia; to the southwest with Paraguay and Argentina, and to the south with Uruguay. In this way it has a border with all the countries of South America, except Ecuador and Chile. Most of the country is included in the terrestrial tropics, so the climatic seasons are not felt in a radical way in a large part of its territory. The Amazon rainforest covers 3.6 million km² of the territory. Thanks to its vegetation and climate, it is one of the countries with the most animal species in the world.
